|The Ohlemacher Family lived in Burgschwalbach,
Hessen-Nassau, Germany. This is within a few miles of where the Fuchs
family lived (Netzbch), and the Birlenbach
family lived (Niederneissen) and the same village where the Shoenborn
The following information was found in the Kirchenbuch (parish records) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Burgschwalbach; the Ahnentafel (ancestor table) of Erna Fuchs provided by Dieter Weigang, Netzbach, Germany, an Ohlemacher descendant; and from Tanja Schmidt, an Ohlemacher descendent from Hohenstein, Germany.
This is a very large family and I have not listed here all the descendents recorded in the parish records. According to Tanja Schmidt, some of the early Ohlemachers were shepherds and moved around a lot so their children were not all born in one place. My Ohlemacher ancestors did not immigrate to the United States.
The surname is spelled Ohlenmacher in some parish records and Ohlemacher in others. According to Tanja Schmidt, this change was sometimes made to distinguish between branches of the family. In addition, the feminine form of Ohlemacher was spelled Ohlemacherin or Ohlemacherinn in some parish records.
